A wide range of ethical issues were captured in SLHI’s report entitled Balancing Act: Ethics in Health Care, The Arizona Landscape. Those issues represent just the tip of the iceberg, and there is a global ethics warming underway. The iceberg is slowly melting and threatening to flood us all with stark choices of resource allocation and purpose: who gets what, why they get it and – most importantly – who decides.
But such moral distress has an upside. It can lead to empowerment. It can lead to positive change and growth. It’s time for a renaissance in collaborative bioethics dialogue. It’s time for The Arizona Bioethics Network.
